The usage of the fuel cell in the Electric motors and scooters are very challenging. The reason is that the body design of Electric motorcycles and Electric scooters allows only limited space for the batteries, however, its acceleration and climbing capability require high power batteries. The DQFC series zinc-air fuel cell has its advantages of high power, high energy, compact size, and lightweight. It not only offers rapid acceleration and superior climbing capability, but also significantly extends the running distance.
The specific energy of DQFC series is 5 times more than that of lead-acid batteries and 3 times more than that of nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. The unit kWh cost is about same as lead-acid batteries and only one-fourth the amount of nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries.
Electric Scooter Application
Powerzinc has successfully integrated and tested zinc-air fuel cell on Taiwan-made 48V Electric motors and China-made 36V Electric scooters. DQFC driven Electric scooters will run on the road in the 4th quarter of 2002 in Shanghai, China. กก
