Due to the environmental issues and limited reserve of fossil fuel, Electric vehicle has been considered as the future of transportation. Countries have taken all kinds of Incentives to promote the development of the Electric vehicles. However, the development and acceptance of EV has been greatly hindered by the availability of a viable battery technology.

Existing batteries for EV are facing the following major problems:
  Insufficient energy density that severely limits the range of the vehicles:
     typically only 30 to 50 km per recharge ;
Long recharging time: usually 8 hours;
Short Service Life: typically less than 2 years;
High unit cost of other advanced technologies, such as NiMH or Li-ion;
Unstable performance of other advanced battery technologies, such as potential explosion disaster of Li-ion
Secondary Pollution, such as Lead-acid battery.

With extraordinary vision, the founders of Powerzinc Electric, Inc. realized the huge potential market of Electric vehicles(EV) whereas the battery is the main bottle neck of the commercialization of the EV. they evaluated all kinds of the batteries technology and made decision to research and develop the zinc air fuel cell technology in 1995. After four years research, they have made significantly breakthrough in the zinc air fuel cell technology and demonstrated great promise to meet the requirements for Electric vehicle propulsion. To commercial the advanced, environmentally friendly technology, they officially established Powerzinc Electric, Inc. in the United States in 1999 and Powerzinc Electric(Shanghai),Inc. in 2000.
